Political culture and character are important in socialism. Another important aspect of socialism is justice and economic system. Socialism is an economic and political philosophy that encompasses various economic and social systems in which there is social ownership of the means of production as opposed to private ownership.
It has been included in the constitution to be oriented towards socialism. But what kind of socialism was thought when the constitution was being made and what will it give to the common people and the country?
It is necessary to have a deep debate on this matter. There are many models and practices of socialism in other countries! But what kind of socialism based on the originality of Nepal should be, it is necessary to define it.
What will be the form of government, what will be the balance of administrative, judiciary and executive! How does the envisioned socialism address the current state’s administrative structure and electoral system, including foreign relations, economic policy?
The current constitution of Nepal was made through the continuous efforts of the Nepalese people. Whatever has been achieved should be taken positively. But that does not mean that it is complete. Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that this constitution is half full and half empty.
We should not hesitate to revise and correct the weaknesses seen in the current political environment. The political changes in the country and the failure to meet the expectations of the common people seem to increase the bitterness and disappointment towards politics. Still, the political parties themselves should improve.
Currently, the politics of Nepal is running in the framework of a parliamentary republic with a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, while legislative power is vested in Parliament.
The constitution of 2047 was called the best, but with the change in the system, another constitution came in 2072. Since then, many laws and regulations have been made and the process of making them is going on. Not only in the Union, but also at the provincial and local levels. How much has been applied in practice and how much is impractical.
According to statistics, Nepal is the poorest country in South Asia and the 17th poorest country in the world. About 25 percent of Nepalis are below the poverty line. There is a huge difference in the level of poverty between different castes and caste groups in Nepal and between different regions of the country.
Geographical diversity, the world’s highest mountain, multi-religious, multilingual, rich cultural heritage, ethnic diversity, birth place of Lord Buddha, many natural resources and tourism possibilities, what has stopped our country from becoming prosperous?
It is necessary to study and research in depth about land use and development policy like ours. National funds should not be distributed for the greed of cheap popularity of a particular leader.
Thakur Prasad Bhatt said, “The main reason behind the contradiction between political change, development and good governance is the serious deviation seen in the tendency and culture of political leadership. He said.
It is necessary to focus on manufacturing and industrial business instead of relying only on remittances and foreign aid. Accusations, dissatisfaction and criticism are not the only ones.
It is a bitter reality that most of the time of our politics is spent in recriminations. Ram Prakash Puri has written, “There is a widespread tendency to adopt that kind of path with the aim of strengthening one’s side through the politics of abuse and character assassination.”
The subject of abuse and character assassination is of special importance in the social environment standing on low awareness and backward cultural ground. As a product of that kind of social environment, the politics of abuse and character assassination comes into being.”
However, it doesn’t always happen like that. In the last few years, the discussion of alternative politics has gained momentum.
The leader and former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai started the new power alternative politics with the principles of equitable prosperity, proportional/inclusive/participatory democracy, good governance/virtue, advanced socialism, independence/sovereignty etc.
Recently, there has been news that some parties have been raising the issue of socialism from time to time.
However, more than the expectations of the Nepali people towards development and good governance, Daliya seems to be limited to Jodhghat.
On the other hand, the victory of an independent candidate may lead to people’s dissatisfaction with the party and the leader, but it cannot become the basis of alternative politics.
The subject of abuse and character assassination is of special importance in the social environment of low awareness and backward cultural ground.
