There is a lot of talk about Krishna Damai becoming an ‘Acharya’ in the market and reciting stories in Kotihome. The religious so-called upper caste people are trying to confirm how great Hinduism is.
However, the reality is that Krishna Damai was not accepted. He was accepted because he studied Sanskrit and became a protector of Hindu religious Brahmanism. Those who are glorifying their religion with suspicion, are they ready for the end of the caste system? Certainly not. Another thing is that those who think that a ‘knowledgeable’ person who has read the Vedas is automatically a Brahmin, are the people of the Brahmin caste who do not read the Vedas ready to become Shudras or Dalits? Certainly not.
The bottom line is that Krishna Damai (and people like him) became venerable because they were ready to become its new defenders, not to fight against Brahminism. Brahminism can survive only by maintaining untouchability, discrimination, exploitation, oppression and violence. Therefore, to end it, it is not necessary to become a Dalit Brahminist, but to fight against it. Because, Brahminism cannot survive without untouchability, discrimination, oppression and violence. In this way, the caste system does not end. We want the complete end of the caste system.
[Note – The term Brahmanism refers to a highly casteist ideology, thought, culture and structure]
