Kejriwal released from jail

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been released on bail by the Supreme Court.

After his release from Tihar Jail, his supporters gave him a grand welcome. After coming out of jail, Kejriwal responded that he came out of jail because he was right.

Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal today. The Supreme Court granted bail in the CBI’s FIR case related to the liquor policy. In its order, the court said that Kejriwal should pay a bond of Rs 10 lakh.

A bench of Justices Suryakant and Ujjwal Bhuyan heard the case and reserved the verdict on September 5. Kejriwal filed two petitions in the Supreme Court. One of the petitions was against the grant of bail. A second petition was filed against the CBI’s arrest in this case.

CBI arrested Kejriwal while he was in ED custody. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED team in March 2024. On July 12, Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the ED case.

But before getting this bail, CBI arrested Kejriwal in June. This is why Kejriwal could not come out of jail. Keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections, the Supreme Court on May 10 granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal for 21 days, i.e. till June 2, for election campaign.

Recently, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also granted bail in this case. Sisodia managed to get out of jail after 17 months. Earlier, Sanjay Singh was out on bail.

The Aam Aadmi Party has been accusing the BJP of using central agencies to frame opposition leaders on false charges. The BJP has been denying such allegations saying that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.
