Controversy is growing over the use of animal fat in the offerings of the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh. “In the previous government, animal fat and fish oil were used in ghee for prasad laddoos.
When testing the samples of Prasad, it was found that fish oil and beef fat were used in those laddus. Andhra Pradesh’s ruling party Telugu Desam Party General Secretary Nara Lokesh has claimed.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has targeted the former Jaganmohan Reddy government of the state. Naidu said, ‘No one can imagine desecrating Tirumala Laddu in this way. In the last five years, he had violated the sanctity of Tirumala.’ He said, ‘It has been confirmed that animal fat is used in the ghee of Tirumala Laddu. The matter is being investigated. Whoever is guilty of this will be punished.’
