China is building a base camp on the moon with the help of Russia

China is preparing to build a human base camp on the south pole of the moon. The human base camp will be called Lunar Base or Moon Base .

China’s space agency CNSA (China National Space Administration) has already announced its plans in this regard. According to which, the moon base will be built in two phases. The first in 2030 and the second in 2035. Russia is also supporting China’s plan.

In fact, China and Russia are going to build the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) together. Under which construction materials will be sent to the moon between 2030 and 2035 through five super heavy lift rockets. From which a basic robotic moon base will be built on the moon.

China is leading this project. He revealed his plans at the International Deep Space Exploration Conference held in Anhui recently.

First phase : China will complete its first phase by 2035. It will be near the south pole of the moon.

Phase II  : After that, its expanded base camp will be built by 2050.

Primary base at South Pole extended base further developed

According to Wu Yanhua, chief designer of China’s Deep Space Exploration Project, the extended model will have a lunar station network. It will act as the central hub of the Lunar Orbit Station.

It will also be in contact with the primary base at the South Pole. In addition, a node will be formed on the dark side of the moon. A node is a mobile structure, which will be sent to the area for research and if necessary, it can be immediately brought to the bright part of the moon.

Solar , radioisotope and nuclear power for energy

According to Wu, this lunar station and base will receive energy from solar energy, radioisotopes and nuclear generators. Then a high-speed lunar surface communication network will be built on the moon. It will also include hoppers, driverless long-distance vehicles, pressurized and unpressurized manned rovers.
