Thailand’s parliament elected 37-year-old Paettontarn Sinawatralai as Prime Minister.
Pheu Thai Party on Thursday selected Paettontornlai as its prime ministerial candidate. The other 10 parties in the alliance have candidates Aghi Nasare and Sinawatra becoming the Prime Minister.
The Pheu Thai Party, which considers Thailand an influential family in politics, decided to appoint Paettontarnai, the third member of the Sinawatra dynasty, as Prime Minister. The bill was presented to Parliament on Friday for approval through the parliamentary process.
Buba Thaksin Sinawatra of Pyongyang and Phupu Yingling Sinawatra have already become Prime Ministers. She is the youngest leader in the history of Thailand’s constitutional monarchy.
The state constitutional court had found outgoing Prime Minister Shreta Thabhisinlai guilty and released him from office over the issue of appointing a person facing criminal charges as a minister. Then the power to appoint a new Prime Minister should be open.
Newly appointed Prime Minister Sinawatra has become the second female Prime Minister of Thailand. Before finally entering politics in 2022, Sinawatra was looking after the hotel business. She was active in last year’s general elections.
